Halloween Trick-or-Treat Outlook
Halloween is here, and many will be heading out at night to trick-or-treat. Expansive high pressure will lead to a favorable forecast for kiddos to collect candy, but jackets and multiple layers will be a necessity. Still, there will be a few scary areas to be on the lookout for.

A frightful low-pressure system will be spinning over the Northeast on Halloween night, creating a scary forecast for trick-or-treaters. Rain showers will be likely across the interior Northeast, so ghouls and goblins will need to bring their raincoats and umbrellas as they head out. If you’re in higher elevations of the Adirondacks or parts of the Green and White mountains, there could be some wet snow or a rain/snow mix. Halloween costumes might need to be paired with a warmer coat and snow boots here. Cities that could see rain or even some mixed showers include Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Bloody, N.H., and Deadmans Corner, Maine.

Also, because of the low pressure over the Northeast, witches and warlocks will be dodging a few rain showers across the northern Plains, Great Lakes and Midwest. This soggy, spooky forecast includes Devil Lake, N.D., Pumpkin Center, S.D., Devils Corner, Wis., Witch Lake, Mich., and Bloody Corners, Ohio.

On the opposite side of the country, a creepy Pacific weather system will be lurking over the Northwest. Rain showers will soak most monsters and vampires throughout Washington into northwestern Oregon as they head out for candy at night. Witch Hazel, Ore., could see a few of these rain showers early in the night.

High pressure will keep it eerily quiet on Halloween night for the rest of the West into the south-central and southeastern U.S.

Trick-or-treaters will need a warm winter coat with their costumes throughout the Rockies, northern Plains and Upper Midwest as well as the Appalachian Spine into the interior Northeast. Here, temperatures will be dropping into the 30s and 40s. This includes Devils Ladder, Idaho, Devils Slide, Utah, Casper, Wyo., Devils Gap, Neb., Bat Cave, N.C., Pumpkin Center, Va., and Pumpkin Hook, N.Y. A few spots like Devils Den, Wyo., and Spook City, Colo., could see temperatures in the 20s!

A jacket or extra layers will be needed for the Northwest, Great Basin, central Plains, Lower Midwest, Tennessee Valley, and much of the Eastern Seaboard. Here, temperatures will be dropping into the 50s and lower 60s. This includes Slaughterville, Okla., Boos, Ill., Munster, Ind., Spider, Ky., Frankenstein, Mo., Black Cat, Ark., Screamer, Tenn., Transylvania, La., Bloody Springs, Miss., Trickem, Ala., Skullhead, Ga., Spiderweb, S.C., Spook Hill, Md., Slaughter, Del., Hershey, Pa., Goblintown, Va., and Scary, W. Va.

Mild 60s and 70s are expected throughout much of California into the Desert Southwest, the southern Plains, the Gulf Coast and Florida. This includes Death Valley, Calif., Skull Valley, Ariz., Chocolate Bayou, Texas, and Deadman Landing, Fla.
