Wintry Weather Winds Down In The Northeast

Snow and freezing rain in the northeastern U.S. will end today, but heavy rain will develop in parts of the Southeast later today.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories remain in place the northern tip of New York into New England today. New snowfall of 2-to-6 inches and ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch remain possible through this afternoon.
A new disturbance will begin to develop over the Southeast late today, which will generate moderate to heavy rain from the Florida Panhandle into Georgia and the Carolinas. Flash Flood Watches have been issued for some of this region, where 1-to-3 inches of rain may fall through tonight. Tallahassee, Fla., Albany, Ga., and Columbia, S.C., are a few cities that are at risk for flash flooding today.
As we dive deeper into winter, it’s never too early to have a supply kit packed in case of inclement weather. A simple kit including a weather radio, water, blankets, batteries, and non-perishable food items will go a long way in the event of a power outage.
