-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Juneau AK 1259 PM AKST Sun Dec 14 2025 ...SNOW FOR THE PANHANDLE OVER THE WEEKEND... .A long duration snow event is ongoing across the panhandle this weekend, and will continue into Monday. Multiple bands of moderate to heavy snow will move up, associated with multiple waves aloft. Strongest snow rates are looking increasingly likely near the Icy Strait corridor this evening, associated with the second wave of precipitation from the south, along with a potential additional band of snow on Monday. Highest uncertainty with snow amounts is near Petersburg and Kake, where warm temperature aloft may limit snow ratios, therefore limiting snow amounts. Eastern Chichagof Island-City and Borough of Juneau- Including the cities of Hoonah, Tenakee Springs, and Juneau 1259 PM AKST Sun Dec 14 2025 ...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AKST MONDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 8 to 18 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph in downtown Juneau, Douglas, and Thane. * WHERE...Eastern Chichagof Island and City and Borough of Juneau. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult and is discouraged unless it is an emergency. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. Blowing snow will reduce visibilities. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall will briefly diminish before another band arrives Sunday night, followed by another potential band on Monday. Snowfall totals will be significant impacted by moisture availability in the Monday snowfall band, which could limit snowfall totals. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
