Special Weather Statement
-# HEADLINE -------------------- INCREASED FIRE DANGER SATURDAY # SUMMARY -------------------- The combination of dry fuels, gusty southwest to west winds, and low relative humidity of about 20-30% in the afternoon into the evening will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. -Pollen Index: 10.8 Pollen Level: high Predominant Pollen: Oak, Hickory/Pecan and Willow. Based on past pollen counts and expected weather conditions, pollen levels for Saturday will be falling but will remain in the very high range. Since the weather has a major influence on pollen dispersal, this decrease is due in part to falling temperatures and higher dew points.
