Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches, with up to 8 inches on the ridges to the west of Route 219. Westerly winds gusting as high as 45 mph, creating significant blowing and drifting of the snow. * WHERE...Somerset County. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 10 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A lull in the persistent and heavier upslope snow will occur through the mid afternoon hours today. Heavier snow will drift southeast into the region later this afternoon and evening as an arctic frontal boundary approaches.
