Special Weather Statement
-# HEADLINE -------------------- Small Hail and Cold Air Funnel Clouds Possible Through this Afternoon # SUMMARY -------------------- Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast through this afternoon, mainly near and east of the Mississippi River. Due to very cold temperatures just off the ground, some of the showers or thunderstorms could produce small hail and cold air funnel clouds. Cold air funnels are due to very cool air aloft...warm moist air near the ground...and are usually in association with a strong area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to little or no wind shear...they are usually very brief and rarely reach the ground. If the funnels do reach the ground, minor wind damage is possible. # DETAILS -------------------- ISSUED AT Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:48 AM CDT ISSUED BY National Weather Service PADUCAH KY HEADER Special Weather Statement # AREAS AFFECTED -------------------- Hardin, Livingston, Muhlenberg, New Madrid, Union KY, Warrick, White, Alexander, Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Cape Girardeau, Carlisle, Christian, Crittenden, Daviess, Edwards, Franklin, Fulton, Gallatin, Gibson, Graves, Hamilton, Henderson, Hickman, Hopkins, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lyon, Marshall, Massac, McCracken, McLean, Mississippi, Perry IL, Perry MO, Pike, Pope, Posey, Pulaski, Saline, Scott, Spencer, Todd, Trigg, Union, Vanderburgh, Wabash, Wayne IL, Webster, Williamson Including the cities of Mount Vernon, Fairfield, Albion, Mount Carmel, Pinckneyville, West Frankfort, McLeansboro, Carmi, Carbondale, Murphysboro, Herrin, Harrisburg, Shawneetown, Jonesboro, Vienna, Golconda, Elizabethtown, Cairo, Mound City, Metropolis, Fort Branch, Petersburg, Poseyville, Evansville, Boonville, Rockport, Hickman, Clinton, Bardwell, Wickliffe, Paducah, Mayfield, Smithland, Benton, Murray, Marion, Eddyville, Cadiz, Princeton, Morganfield, Dixon, Madisonville, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Owensboro, Calhoun, Greenville, Elkton, Perryville, Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Sikeston, Charleston, and New Madrid
Pollen Alert
-Pollen Index: 8.2 Pollen Level: medium-high Predominant Pollen: Oak, Maple and Sycamore. The pollen levels for Sunday will be increasing over today's levels in the high range. This forecast of higher pollen concentration is based on rising temperatures, strong winds and lower relative humidity. These overall conditions could make it a bit more difficult for those who are allergic to airborne pollens.
