Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph expected Friday and Friday night. * WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The strongest wind gusts will likely be found on the northern slopes of the Tug Hill Plateau and Black River Valley overnight. Strong gusts will be for the entire North Country region Friday and Friday night. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines. Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. Mainly southern Jefferson, northern Oswego, and western Lewis counties. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute. Gusty winds will lead to reduced visibility in blowing snow and down tree branches causing isolated power outages. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor snowfall accumulations are expected Friday morning as early morning rain transitions to snowfall.
